I have shared my journey of weight gain and loss (and gain again) over the past several years. It seems to be never-ending. If you follow my blog and/or healthy living column you know I am a fan of Dr. Oz and his many tips for living a healthier life. And, the bottom line is while stomach fat looks unattractive, it is really unhealthy too.

So, why not give the supplement, green tea with lemon and spices a try?

I’m going to measure my waistline this week and order the supplement. I must say though, I’m working up to implement core exercises again so my progress will include the affects of exercise along with the above routine.

I’ll give testimony to the success or lack therefore of these suggestions. What do you do to minimize your waistline?

Let me know.

We spent some time on this topic in my Psychopharmaceutical class this term and I felt it important to share.

Are you wondering how you can get back to a healthy place evident of full recovery and/or a low allostatic load?

It is difficult because you must face the skeletons you’ve buried in the closet. If you feel shame, regret or guilt, you must explore why. Face the pain with a curious spirit, more of an outside to inside vantage point.

You can do this by sharing with someone who loves you (someone you trust), you can journal about these experiences, pray, create art that honors you as a person who survived these hardships and/or reach into your community for support (for example nonprofits, community centers and church resources).

I like to use visualization in a meditative type exercise to help me unblock and renew my energy. It is pretty simple. All you have to do is find a quiet comfortable place, close your eyes, relax and imagine a bright healing celestial light coming down from the heavens into the crown of your head. With your mind’s eye visualize this light going into your core and uniting with your soul. Ask this light (your higher power) for clarity and cleansing. I ask this in Jesus Christ’s name. It feels good when I do this.

Whatever process you utilize, keep at it until you find one that feels right. Your health is a worthwhile endeavor!

Today, I am thinking of my dad, he passed 6 years ago on May 20th. He was a veteran. Many of the guys I see at the VA hospital (my boyfriend and I were just there on Friday), look like my dad. There is a lot of controversy about the VA system in the news right now although I must say, the hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, was extremely serviceable to my dad and our family.
I always know summer has arrived when I get an unwelcomed breakout of poison ivy. My fiancĂ© has it worse than me, which is why we visited the hospital this weekend.
We’ll be spending some time on a nice little piece of wooded property my friend owns on a lake in Chelsea Michigan today. It is a beautiful spot to feel nature and boost the spirit.
Whatever you’re doing this weekend, I’m hopeful you are honoring life in some healthy way. Have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend!

This article was inspired by a Lifeclass I watched with Oprah and Bishop TD Jakes. Oprah mentioned that one of her favorite verses in the Bible is the one about transformation of the mind. I have read the Bible from cover to cover in the past but I couldn’t remember this verse. I was able to find it in the online Bible, which I added to the article. It entails quite empowering words.
I’ve been studying the brain and its physical attributes, the mind in its intellect and thought as it impacts both.
It is quite complex but yet simple at the same time when you view it in the terms of health or ailment. The power of thought can make or break you. We must learn to release the dark thoughts allowing them to flow out just as quickly as they came in. I’m starting to get better at this and as I do, I believe I’m adding years to my life. It is quite healing.
What are your thoughts? Can you share any with me?

Frustration block, continued...

Sometimes I can just scream because I get so frustrated. Perhaps if I screamed it would help unblock these feelings! This week I have been frustrated with my health.

Wednesday night I started getting extremely sick and the vomiting continued for 12 hours. It felt like the flu times 10 even though I did get my flu shot many months ago.

Today is Sunday and I still feel horrible. This is driving me crazy. I’m lightheaded and every time I eat, my food gives me a sour stomach and heartburn. I awake each morning with cramps. I’m sure my system was probably traumatized from some sort of virus leaving my digestive system off balance but the time it is taking to come back around seems like an eternity. Also, my energy is at about 20% as apposed to the high level I’m usually navigating life with; I want to get back to feeling healthy!

Universe, can you help me out?

I have tried to surrender to my lack of control given my circumstances; I’ve not done much this weekend but not really by choice. When I try to get active, I start feeling sick again.

So, tonight I am wallowing in the present moment asking for my lesson and attempting to release all of my blocks. I even listened to some energy healing meditations.

Lord help me!
