The last I looked the divorce rates up in our country they were as high as 50-60%; we are now tipping the scale with over ½ of married partnerships ending in divorce. I wonder if the pressures of today’s world is causing the reactive, intolerant behavior involved in the breakdown of communication discussed in the article, maybe these individuals just jumped in to fast or, perhaps they are repeating modeled behaviors.

I think it would benefit our world if the government required a bit of pre-marriage counseling prior to making a relationship legal. This might give the couple some food for thought and, at least, verify if the hard questions about a life together have been contemplated. You might be thinking the government already has its hands in too much but the breakdown of marriage impacts more than just the couple involved; it can be catastrophic on children.

I think it is important to look at your history and to analyze what has went wrong and what has worked well in these relationships so you are able to identify patterns, become aware and shape a healthier future for yourself by learning from the past mistakes. This awareness alone opens the door to a path to healing, You just have to be brave enough to walk through it to get to the other side.

What do you think is the root cause of so many failed marriages? Drop me a note and let’s talk!
